Empire of Sports is a 3D massively multiplayer role playing game (“MMORPG”) that takes place in the first MMO game world with multiple sports. The selection of sports include: football, basketball, tennis, skiing, track & field, and bobsleigh. Players will be able to build up their characters using different training regiments. Depending on how the character’s training progresses, he or she will possess different skill sets and be able to apply them to the appropriate sports. For example, if a character focuses his training on his legs then he would gain more potential for football, whereas if he concentrates on working out his arms, then he could apply his strength for a formidable tennis serve.
Competitive Play
However, training is only the
beginning of the game. When it is time to test a
player’s skills, he or she can play sports games against
the other players, join a team and play against a rival
squad, or join a club to meet fellow athletes. In the
online community, players can travel to different
virtual regions of the globe, such as China, UK and
Germany. Local regions will be available for the Chinese
market, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou
(tentative).

When the competition intensifies, players can gather at different hubs throughout the game or become spectators to other ongoing games. To emulate the real lifestyles of famous athletes, successful players can upgrade their homes, cars and clothes to reflect their true personalities. The developers have partnered with world class brands such as Nike and Gucci to provide authentic goods for players to acquire.
Realistic Sports Gaming
Designed by Switzerland-based Empire of Sports Ltd., a joint venture between Infront Sports & Media and F4, Empire of Sports is the first licensed title for Giant. Adding to the realism and authenticity of the sports games, real referees and sports experts were consulted during the design of the game. Professional sports regulations, life-like physics and modern training methods were all incorporated for a realistic gaming experience.
Empire of Sports is currently undergoing development and testing in Europe, and is coming to China in 2008.
